An ideal business solution: the benefits of using a fabric shelter for storage
High quality fabric buildings are affordable alternatives to permanent structures. Purchase and assembly costs are much lower than is the case for traditional structures and yet, the structure will still remain standing for years. For commercial and industrial companies, it provides an excellent temporary or semi-permanent solution for a wide range of outdoor storage requirements and can withstand all sorts of weather, making it suitable as a shelter even in exposed locations.
Fabric buildings with an arched roof are ideal for creating simple, yet strong storage structures and allow you to start using the space for storage within a matter of hours of delivery. Unlike wood, steel or sheet metal buildings, PVC arched shelters can often be assembled without planning permission. To be sure, you will need to enquire with your local planning authority to ensure you are meeting the requirements of the building code. This is particularly the case for tents with a size greater than 100m² (roughly 1000 sq ft).
At a glance: Further benefits of storage tents
- Detailed assembly instructions and labelled parts facilitate quick and easy setup without any prior knowledge
- No foundation is needed to install the structure
- Flexible and portable: the possibility of disassembly and reassembly allows for both temporary or long term projects
- Only standard tools are needed for assembly
- Transport and storage of the arched shelter is possible due to extremely robust wooden crates included in the delivery, offering protection from moisture and corrosion
- Highly stable and robust - an engineer's report including wind and snow loads is included
- Quick access through large or small doorways on each gable end
- Low-maintenance and effortless cleaning due to the smooth PVC fabric material
Our materials: The Heavy Duty Frame and Tensile Fabric Tarpaulin
All arched shelters come with guaranteed load capacities and are designed for year-round use. Loads are distributed evenly thanks to the rounded shape of the fabric structure and rainwater drains immediately, without pooling on the arched roof. The structure of our shelters varies according to the span of the roof:
Single-truss arched shelters: the curved arches consist of a single round steel pole with a diameter of 76 mm (see photo). Depending on the distance between legs / arches, tents can withstand loads of up to 100kg/m².
Double-truss arched shelters: the curved arches are made of a structure combining two round steel poles with a diameter of 76 mm (see photo on the right). Connecting crossbars distribute weight across both poles (double-truss construction). Maximum loads can reach up to 208kg/m², depending on the distance between the arches. Larger span widths can be achieved than is possible with single-truss arched shelters.
Whether opting for a single or double truss structure, you still have the option of selecting for leg distance - the distance between arches. Single-truss storage tents have a leg distance of either 1 or 2 metres. Double-truss structures have a leg distance of 1.5 or 3 metres.
Both construction types come with two entrances: a large gate as well as a smaller door for quick and simple access to the building. Long pegs and concrete anchors are included for safe installation. The mechanism to open the gate is operated manually through a cable control system and a crank.
The PVC fabric tarpaulins of our storage tents are some of the most hard-wearing and strongest building fabrics on the market. They are made of extra-heavy ca. 720g/m² cast PVC with a tight-knit inner grid fabric. They are available in white, green or grey. All tarpaulins are 100% waterproof and highly resistant to UV radiation. The tarpaulin is installed on the steel frame by means of a professional tensioning belt system. The procedure is simple and precise. Air vents on gable ends create optimal air circulation and reduce condensation inside the building. Ventilation is important because the PVC membrane is not a breathable fabric.
A Fabric Building is a great option for bulk storage and much more besides!
Quick to build, arched shelters create protected storage space for goods, materials and machines that are susceptible to heavy weather conditions. Even larger vehicles like lorries, mobile homes and yachts can be stored in our fabric buildings. With a maximum width of 15.25 metres, our largest models can be used as a hangar for to shelter small aircraft.
Fabric covered buildings are suitable for use as a workshop, as a canopy over your construction site or as storage in forestry. In the world of agriculture, these structures are particularly popular for equipment storage or as a dry shelter for hay. Our UV-resistant fabric buildings are manufactured to be 100% waterproof and can be used for storing hay, straw and wood. Usage is extremely versatile. These tents are designed to provide year-round protection from wind, rain, hail and snow.
You can also order your tensile storage tent with skylights, to benefit from natural light and reduce lighting costs. Skylights are made from an approximately 950 g/m² PVC material with a woven mesh fabric.
Durable and Stable - a Fabric Building that lasts
Dealing with Snowfall
Provided the assembly was correct and occasional maintenance measures are taken, the hot-dip galvanised, robust steel poles and the extremely sturdy tarpaulin can be used for decades on end. Robust, fully galvanised frames withstand harsh weather conditions. The tent's steel frame is resistant to rust and comes with a 10-year warranty for corrosion. The 720g/m² PVC tarpaulin fabric is highly resistant to UV radiation and resilient towards changes in weather. Correctly mounted PVC tarpaulins come with a 5-year warranty, provided that they are not left open for extended periods.
Arched shelters with a PVC tarpaulin fabric are extremely stable. The arched shape and the smooth PVC surface make snow loads slide off the roof fabric. It's still important to remove excess snow from the shelter when required for additional safety.
Shelters with PVC roofs don't require foundations. The shelter comes with anchors for both hard and soft surfaces. The structure is fixed to the ground with three anchors per foot - for solid grounds, concrete anchors are used, 1m long pegs are used for storage tents situated on soft undergrounds.
High weather resistance and the extraordinary stability of our fabric structures facilitates year-round use and offers maximum protection from wind and snow.
Tensile fabric structures: A building design that meets all of your requirements
PVC arched storage tents are produced with state-of-the-art technology and are specifically designed to adhere to numerous standards:
- Approx. 720 g/m² heavy cast PVC tarpaulin with tight-knit inner grid fabric - certified by DIN EN ISO 527
- 9x more tear-proof than conventional PVC tarpaulins
- PVC tarpaulins are fireproof - certified by DIN 4102 B1
- Hot-dip galvanised steel frame with a 10 year guarantee
- Extraordinary stability: load capacities are calculated by German engineers
- Unparalleled strength thanks to the combination of the arched tensile structure and heavy duty fabric
Assembly and installation of your tension fabric building
To erect a temporary fabric building, no foundation is required. Most arched storage tents (depending on their size) can be set up without a building permit. Installation is simple and quick due to a detailed instruction manual and labelled parts. Only standard tools are required to install the structure. Make sure to have a forklift with a load capacity of 1.6t on hand at delivery in order to unload the wooden crates containing your storage shelter. Large metal feet secure the fabric building to the ground with anchoring systems for either concrete or soil. Anchors for both surfaces - M12 concrete anchors and 1m long pegs - are included in the delivery.
